Former two-time world lightweight champion Julio Diaz, 40-7-(29), scored a fifth round tko win over Hector Sanchez, 19-3-(9), at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California on Saturday.
Diaz, who was fighting at welterweight floored Sanchez in round two before taking him out with a combination of punches after 2.03 of round five.
On the undercard super featherweight Roger “Speedy” Gonzalez won a 10 round majority decision over prospect Andrew “Chango” Cancio. Cancio pressured for the entire fight Gonzalez heldo to win 96-94 twice on two cards while the third judge made the fight even at 95-95.
