Diaz Takes Out DeJesus In 5

Former undisputed world lightweight champ Juan Diaz, 37-4-(17), battered Adailton DeJesus, 30-8-(24), at the Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Texas on Saturday.


Diaz unleashed his punches at will pretty much throughout the fight until DeJesus’ corner threw in the towel in round five of a one sided fight.


In his Top Rank debut, lightweight Dennis Shafikov, 32-0-1-(17), remained unbeaten to secure a sixth round stoppage win over Santos Benavides . Shafikov floored Benavides in round three before handing out a beating until Benevides remianed on his stool at the end of the sixth round.


In a light welterweight bout Jose Ramirez smashed Mike Maldonado inside 0 66 seconds. Maldonado hit the deck three times.


Ivan Najera scored a six round unanimous decision over Roger Rosa in a lightweight bout. Najera decked Rosa in round one on his way to a six round points win. The scores were 59-54 and 58-55, twice.


In a welterweight bout Alex Saucedo needed just 0.60 to take out Ramon Pena. Pena was decked twice before the bout was stopped.
