At the age of 39 year-old Mzonke Fana upset Takalani Ndlovu over 12 rounds to claim the vacant WBA Pan African super featherweight title at the Mdantsane Indoor Centre near East London, South Africa on Saturday afternoon.
Fana jabbed his way to a unanimous points win by scores of 118-108, 117-112 and 116-111. Ndlovu was deducted a point in round seven for a low blow and finished the fight with a swollen left eye.
Fana improved his record to 32-6-(13), Ndlovu drops to 33-10-(18).
On the same card former Commonwealth bantamweight champ Tshifhiwa Munyai, 24-2-1-(12), stopped former Phumzile Matyhila, 18-3-(9), in the eighth round. Matyila was decked prior to the fight being stopped
