 Froch lands the perfect punch
Froch lands the perfect punch

Carl Froch, 33-2-(24), finally laid to rest the controversy of his first meeting with bitter rival George Groves,19-2-(15), in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley stadium in London, England on Saturday when he ko’d Groves inside eight rounds to retain his WBA and IBF super-middleweight titles.

As expected the early rounds were tactical, which was to be expected with so much at stake. Groves was the busier early on but Froch started to move up the gears in rounds five and six. Groves did manage to rock Froch in the seventh but the champion came back strong in the eighth to deck Groves with a stunning right hand, prompting referee Charlie Fitch to jump in after 2.34 of the round.
