Kid Galahad unleashed a massive right hand to score a 10th round stoppage win over James ‘Jezza’ Dickens to win the vacant British super bantamweight title at the Magna Center in Rotherham in the north of England on Saturday night.
Dickens looked the heavier puncher but Galahad proved to be the slicker boxer on the night in what was up until the 10th a pretty even affair. Both men had their moments in a fight that was very difficult to score.
In the end, though, Galahad took the decision away from the judges to unleash a cracking straight left hand of a thrilling fight. Dickens managed to beat the count but referee Mark Green decided call a halt after 1.34 of the 10th round. Galahad had a point deducted in the ninth round for pulling Dickens head down.
Galahad kept his unbeaten intact by improving to 15-0, while Dickens loses for the first time.
After the fight Galahad called out both European champion Carl Frampton and future world title challenger Scott Quigg.
