Hasegawa Too Good For Perez

Hozumi Hasegawa impressively halted Nicaraguan challenger Alvero Perez to retain his WBC bantamweight title for the 10th time in Kobe, Japan on Friday.

Hasegawa, 28-2-(12), delivered a straight double left hand with lightening speed to drop the challenger, heavily, leaving the referee no choice but stop the fight after 2.38 of the fourth round.

The 29 year-old champion has now stopped five challengers in as many fights. Perez, `18-2-1-3nc-(12), was busy and aggressive early on but as soon as Hasegawa settled down and found his range, there was only ever going to be one winner.

Having conquered everyone at bantamweight it may now be the right time to move up to the 122lbs division.
