Lamati Outclasses Kabore


By Lwazi Ndzobongo: Ludumo Lamati outclassed Alex Boureima Kabore over 12 one-sided rounds to retain the IBF Intercontinental junior-featherweight title at the Orient Theatre in East London on Friday night.
All three judges at ringside scored the fight 120-107. Lamati used his height and reach to control Kabore and show off his class and superior boxing skills. He had Kabore down in the seventh with a left hook to the chin, but the tough Kabore beat the count and continued to take further punishment. Lamati used combinations upstairs and downstairs to attack the experienced Kabore. The fight was somewhat spoiled by both fighter constantly slipping on the logo in the centre of the ring, fortunately neither fighter was hurt by this.
Lamati improved to 13-0-1(8) and Kabore dropped to 27-3 (7).
Xolisa Magusha defeated the defending champion, Siphamandla Baleni to win the South African mini-flyweight title via unanimous decision.
The judges scored it 116-112, 118-111 and 117-111. Magusha, fighting from the southpaw stance outmuscled and outworked Baleni throughout the twelve rounds.
Magusha improved to 10-2 (6) and Baleni dropped to 15-2-1 (6).
