Lewis Dickinson Retains British Cruiserweight Crown

Jon Lewis Dickinson retained his British cruiserweight title via a 12 round unanimous decision over Mike Staffiord at the Rainton Meadows Arena in Houghton Le Spring on Friday night.

At the end of 12 round all three judges made the 26 year-old from Birtley the winner by scores of 118-112,117-112 and a closer 115-113

On the undercard Glen foot scored a seventh round tko win over former Euoropean lightweight champion Jason Cook in a bad tempered affair. Cook was briefly floored in the fourth round and cut on the outside of the right eye in sixth before the fight was stopped after 1.38 of the seventh round. Cook took a series heavy punches before hitting the deck. Cook managed to get to his feet and amazingly referee Andrew Wright allowed the fight to continue before another barrage of punches forced his corner to throw in the towel.

In a light-welterweight bout Kirk Goodings scored a four round points win over Youssef Al Harnidi
