Willie Limond outscored Mitch Prince over 12 rounds in defence of his Commonwealth light welterweight title at the Bellahouston Sports Centre in Glasgow. Scotland on Friday night.
The 34-year-old, who was making his first title defence, decked Prince in the opening round on his way to a unanimous 116-112 and 115-113(twice) points win.
Limond made an explosive start as Prince looked as though he was out of his depth. Limond looked like a man on a mission early on, trying to impress his local fans by finishing Prince off in style but the South African born Prince soaked up the pressure an fought back strongly in a thrilling battle. Prince out toughed Limond at times but his superior skills and experience proved enough to clinch the verdict
