Former WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli stopped Courtney Fry inside seven rounds of a light heavyweight on Saturday night at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England.
Maccarinelli decked Fry at the end of round one but Fry recovered to battle until Maccarinelli floored him again in the sixth. Fry’s corner finally threw in the towel in the seventh session after shipping too much punishment.
On the undercard unbeaten super flyweight Paul Butler went to 14-0 after out-pointing Ruben Montoya over rounds. The scores were 120-109, 120-108 and 118-110. The WBO intercontinental and vacant WBA international titles were on the line.
Unbeaten light middleweight Joe Selkirk stopped Zoltan Sera with a body shot in round three while British light middleweight champ Liam Smith scored a fourth round stoppage over Mark Thompson. Thompson twice hit the deck in round three.
