Albuquerque based light welterweight Fidel Maldonado, 16-2-(12), scored a seventh round knockout win over Luis Ramos, 23-2-(10), at the Cowboys Dance Hall in San Antonio, Texas on Monday night.
The evening went from bad to worse for Ramos, who was cut over the left eye in the opening round, deducted a point in round three and decked twice in round six before being finished off with another knockdown after 0.17 of the seventh.
In the co feature former world title challenger Fernando Guerrero,26-2-(19),won a tough and highly competitive 10 round decision over Raymond Gatica, 13-2- (8), despite being knocked down in the opening round. All three judges scored the bout 96-93 for Guerrero.
In a middleweight bout Terrell Gausha, 12-2-(6), scored a first round knockout win over Andre Calixto. A right hand did the damage halfway through the first session.
