Christopher Martin scored a controversial eight round unanimous decision win over previous conqueror Jose Angel Beranza to claim the WBC USNBC super bantamweight title at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California on Friday.
The Mexican boxer was the more active as Martin looked to score with single shots including a right hand in the fifth round that floored Beranza. At the end of the fight one judge had the fight 78-73 for Beranza while the other two scored the fight 76-75 for Martin.
In the co-main event Ontario’s Artemio “King” Reyes scored an impressive second round knockout win over Rodolfo “Bam Bam” Armenta of Rio Rico, AZ. After an even opening round Reyes floored Armenta after 1:47 of the second. The bout was fought welterweight.
