Mandatory challenger Argenis Mendez brutally and clinically knocked out IBF super featherweight champion Juan Carlos Salgado at “The Hangar” in Coasta Mesa, Californiaon Saturday night.
Mendez floored Salgado in the opening round with a right hand before stretching him out cold with a left hook in round four of this eagerly awaited rematch.
Last time the two men fought for the vacant IBF super featherweight title in September 2011 Salgado won a controversial unanimous decision over 12 after being knocked down.
On the undercard welterweight Javier “El Intocable” Molina won a unanimous decision over Joseph Elegele in an eight round event. The scores were 77-75, 77-75 and 78-72.
