On Saturday night, at the Manuel Bernardo Aguirre Gymnasium in Chihuahua, Mexico three-weight world champ Fernando Montiel, won by 12 round split decision win over Arturo Reyes.
Montiel claimed the vacant WBC United States featherweight title.
The bout was initially dominated by Montiel, who used his experience to put Santos in trouble. Santos managed to overcome the pressure and fight his way back on equal terms. . After the 12 bout the judges offered the controversial split decision verdict in favor of Fernando "Kochulito" Montiel, a situation that caused a public uproar, causing certain people in the crowd to throw all sorts of objects into the ring.

In a hard fought contest Nayarit Jose Argumedo scored a major victory over Saul Juarez, to win the WBC International flyweight Championship, last Saturday night at the Arena Jalisco in Guadalajara, Mexico.
At the conclusion of 12 rounds the following scores were 116-112, 115-113 and 116-112 in favor of Jose Argumedo.
Jose Argumedo fought fearlessly from the start of the fight throwing punches in all directions to stop Saul Juarez in his tracks. The first half of the fight was dominated by Argumedo, thanks to his power shots.
The judges had him in front on their cards, but Juarez, knowing he was behind on the judges cards, clenched his fists to punch solidly and fight in close to try to contain the new champion. The victory improves Jose Argumedo’s record to 8-1-1-( 4), Saul Juarez falls to 11-2-(8).
