Takashi Miura retained his WBC super featherweight title via 12 round unanimous decision over mandatory challenger Sergio “Yeyo” Thompson at the Plaza De Toros in Cancun, Mexico on Saturday night.

 

Miura, 26-2-2-(19), Miura decked Thompson with an uppercut in round two and again in round six with a right and left punch combination. Thompson,31-3-(29), returned the favour by flooring Miura in round eight.

 

The knockdown seemed to wake up Miura after the knockdown because he bagan to step up a gear to secure a unanimous but hard fought war by scores of 113-112, 114-110 and 114-111.

 

On the undercard female featherweight Celina Salazar, 5-1-2-(1), won a 10 round unanimous decision over Ana Julaton
