Jerry Glick reporting from ringside: Seanie Monaghan, 14-0 (9 KOs),undefeated light-heavyweight prospect wanted to at least match what Curtis Stevens, who helped him prepare for the fight, did to Romaro Johnson, 11-7-1 (6 KOs); that is he wanted a one round knockout as Stevens pulled off over Johnson. Well he didn’t it in the first round, but after battering the durable but limited Johnson around the ring, Monaghan stopped him at 2:30 of the eighth round at Roseland Ballroom in Manhattan on a show promoted by DiBella Entertainment.
Also impressive was unbeaten welterweight Thomas Dulorme, 15-0 (12 KOs), who stopped a brave, but out gunned, Alberto Herrera, at the end of round seven after using his lightning quick hands to hammer him. The doctor decided, wisely, that Herrera had taken too many punches.
Super-middleweight Will Rosinsky, 16-1 (9 KOs), out fought lanky Aaron Pryor Jr., 16-6 (11 KOs), to cop a unanimous eight round decision; and Gabriel Bracero, 19-1 (3 KOs), put up with at least three butts to the head that opened bloody cuts, but still managed to win unanimously in eight over journeyman Jermaine White, 17-5 (10 KOs).
