Former world cruiserweight king Jean-Marc Mormeck made a successful heavyweight debut in Paris, France Thursday night when he out-pointed American tough guy Vinny Maddalone over eight rounds.
Mormeck, 34-4-(22), who was returning after two years out of the ring, scored an expected hard fought point verdict by scores of 77-75,79-75 and 79-73.
Mormeck was the busier more aggressive in the first half of the fight, dipping in and out against the slower but stronger American.
Maddalone, 32-6-(26), had some success in the later rounds but the Frenchman was often too light on his feet and elusive.
