WBO super flyweight champion Omar Narvaez, 37-1-2-(20), retained his title with an 11th round knockout win over Johnny Garcia, 16-4-1-(8) at the Estadio Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Saturday.
Narvaez floored Garcia in round seven in what was up until then a very evenly match bout. Narvaez kept up the pressure in the eighth round, as Garcia was deducted a point for a low blow by referee Roberto Ramirez Jr.
The champion, who dedicated the fight to his recently deceased father, finally decked Garcia three times in round 11 to end the fight.
On the undercard middleweight Sergio Sanders, 20-9-2-(11), won a split decision over the previously unbeaten Billi Godoy, 26-1-(13). Godoy floored Sanders just before the end of the eighth and final bell, but it wasn’t enough as Sanders won by scores of 76-75, 76.5-76 on two cards. While Godoy was judged a 77.75 winner on the third card.
