NABA featherweight title two champion Mike Oliver from Hartford, Connecticut and Brooklyn’s Cornelius Lock fought to an eight round draw at Foxwoods Resort Casino on Connecticut on Saturday.
Jimmy Burchfield promoted the “Connecticut Classic” pro-am card, featuring six amateur and six professional bouts.
Oliver, 26-5-1, came out in the opening round looking to make a statement against the more powerful Lock, who was more prepared to stand and trade compared to Oliver, who elected to box more from the outside. At the end of eight good solid rounds Lock, 21-6-2, earned a 78-74 decision on one card while the other two judges each scored the bout even at 76-76, to force a majority draw.
