By Matthew Hurley At Ringside: In front of a raucous Boston crowd at the House Of Blues, Framingham’s on Thursday(May 24) Danny O’Connor (17-1) stopped Daniel Sostre (11-6-1) of Harlem, New York when Sostre’s corner halted the bout after the fourth round. According to Sostre he injured his right hand, but O’Connor was having it his way for the fight’s duration. It was the Irishman O’Connor’s return to Boston after an absence due to injuries.
The card, promoted by Dibella Entertainment with proceeds to benefit the Dropkick Murphy’s front man Ken Casey’s Claddagh Fund was mostly hit or miss but the venue, which filled to capacity by night’s end provided an entertaining enough evening.
The Murphy’s, who played Symphony Hall earlier in the night were whisked to the House of Blues in time for the main event to sing two songs including one, “The Warrior’s Code” in honor of Lowell’s Micky Ward who sat ringside and did bits of commentary with Steve Farhood.
Also in attendance was the legendary Tony DeMarco, still looking spry and enjoying the night festivities.
The results of the undercard are listed below.
