Reyes Ko's Alvarez In 2

By Reginald Murrell at ringside- from the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario California, Thompson Boxing Promotions presents Path to Glory.

In a highly anticipated match on Friday between local fan favorite Artemio “King” Reyes, (22-2, 18 KO’s) of Riverside, Ca. fought an overmatched Abraham Alvarez, (16-5, 7 KO’s) of Mexico. In this 10 round main event Reyes came out to please his fans and Alvarez assisted in that endeavor.

In the short time this bout lasted, Alvarez was not capable of hitting the much superior Reyes, forget about hurting Reyes. In the second round Reyes dropped Alvarez 3 times prompting referee Ray Corona to end the devastation before it got any worse. Reyes did his job, but next time let’s see him in a more competitive match.

Reyes wins by KO in the 2nd

In the co-main event undefeated Giovani “El Gallo de Oro” Santillan, (13-0, 7 KO’s) of San Diego, Ca. faced a tough, hardnosed opponent in a late sub of Joaquin “Chico” Chavez (7-13-3, 2 KO’s) of Commerce, California. Chavez seemed confused on how to handle the aggressive southpaw.

In the first few stanzas of this 8 round Jr. Welterweight match Chavez was seemed unsure of himself which prevented him from establishing any offense. As the rounds continued Chavez began to find his confidence throwing hard, looping right hands to the head of Santillian.

Santillan continued applying pressure, ripping 3 and 4 punch combinations to the body and head of Chavez. In the end Santillan was just too much for the rugged Chavez.

Santillan wins Unanimous Decision

In an exciting action packed 8 round battle, Danny “Baby Face Assassin” Roman (9-2-1, 4 KO’s) of Los Angeles, Ca. and Jonathan “Lil Thunder” Arellano (13-3-2, 3 KO’s) of Ontario, Ca. wasted no time in getting to know one another. From the opening bell the fireworks began, each fighter dispensing of their jab. If compubox displayed the jab count it would be in the single digits for this match.

Unfortunately for Arellano, Roman’s short, crisp power punches did more damage than his. In the 8th and final round Roman knocked Arellano down twice, with the last knocked down coming just as the final bell sounded.

Roman wins Unanimous Decision
