Super-featherweight hope Ronny Rios, 19-0-(9), remained unbeaten by scoring a ninth round tko win over David Rodela at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California on Saturday night.
Rodela made a positive start to overwhelm Rios but could not sustain the pressure as Rios gradually fought his way back into the fight. A combination of unanswered punches forced the stoppage after 1.14 of the ninth session.
On the undercard two-time world lightweight champion Julio Diaz, 39-7-(28), scored a fifth round knockout win over Henry Aurad, 14-5-1-(11). Diaz floored Aurad in round three and again in round five. The time of the stoppage was :0.54. The bout was made at 147lbs.
At middleweight Angel Osuna knocked out Eddie Hunter after 2.00 of the opening round.
