Rocky Martinez 26-1-1-(16), regained the vacant WBO super featherweight title with a close 12 round split decision win over Miguel Beltran Jr ,27-2-(17) at the Thomas and Center in Las Vegas on Saturday..
The scores were 116-111 Beltran, 114-113 114-113 for Martinez. Beltran was deducted a point in round 11 allowing Martinez to claim the title.
Macklin Destroys Alcine
British middleweight contender Matthew Macklin improved his record to 29-4-(20), when he destroyed former light middleweight champion Joachim Alcine in the first round. Alcine was decked twice before the bout was stopped after2:26.
Rigondeaux Outscores Marroquin
WBA super bantamweight champ Guillermo Rigondeaux, 11-0-(8), scored a clear 12 round unanimous decision win over Robert Marroquin, 22-2-(15). Rigondeaux was dominant throughout , flooring Marroquin in rounds five and 12 on his way to a 118-108 on all three judges cards.
“The Pride of the Fighting Irish” Mike Lee, 11-0-(6) out-pointed Paul Harness over four rounds in a light heavyweight bout. Lee won every round, 40-36.
Willie Nelson scored a surprise win over the previously unbeaten John Jackson to win the NABF light middleweight title via a ten round unanimous decision. The scores were 96-94, 96-94 and 98-92.
In a light middleweight bout Michael Medina outscored James Winchester over eight The scores were 80-70 on all three cards.
Welterweight Wale Omotoso remained unbeaten with a one-sided eight round unanimous decision victory over Daniel Sostre Scores were 80-72 and 79-73 (twice).
