By Reginald Murrell at ringside: In the main event at the Chumash Casino Resort in California welterweight Francisco Santana, 18-3-1-(8), scored a unanimous decision over former WBC International Champion Joachim Alcine, 33-7-1-(19), Laval, Quebec, Canada.
In this 10 round welterweight match up Santana’s speed and work rate seem to overwhelm the seasoned veteran Alcine. Santana’s punch output and combinations over 12 rounds put Alcine off his game. Alcine had success in spurts, but Santana continued throwing 3 and 4 punch combinations, finishing those combinations with thudding left hooks to the head of Alcine. From the opening bell Santana controlled the tempo of the fight and was never in danger of losing to former champion.
Heavyweight Lateef Kayode, 19-0-0-(15), Hollywood California returned to the ring after 18 months resulted in a 2nd round KO of Travis Jon Fulton, 21-34-1-(20), Waterloo Iowa.
