By Ciaran Gibbons: Barry’s Lee Selby showed once again why he is one of British boxing’s hottest prospects by stopping Ghanaian Patrick Okine in round five of their 12 round fight in Newport ,South Wales on Friday.
Selby who is also the British featherweight champion was only defending his Commonwealth title on the night and after the first four rounds it looked like the fight was going to extend the unbeaten Selby who has yet to go past six rounds.
But early in round five a short right hand hurt Okine and Selby trapped him in the corner and did not give him a chance to recover.Okine finally dropped to the canvas after a non stop attack from the champion and after the eight count the referee stopped the fight despite the complaints from the African boxer.
Another impressive win for Lee Selby who is now looking for a shot at the European title.
