Friday night in Sweden, Amanda Serrano (14-1-1, 9 KOs) lost a unanimous round decision to Frida Wallberg (11-0, 2 KOs) for the womens WBC Lightweight title. The score were 96-94, 97-93, and 98-92.
"I gave it my all," said Serrano. "I know I landed some good shots in the fight and I’m not ashamed of my performance. Frida Wallberg is a great fighter and I take nothing away from her victory. I’m going to bounce back from this bump in the road and work my way back to the top. I want to thank all my fans who’ve been there for me and I promise I’ll be back."
Said promoter Mario Yagobi, "Amanda fought her heart out and I know she will definitely make her way back to the top. It was an amazing fight and Frida Wallberg is a class act. I wish her success in her career. Right now we have to go back to the drawing board and see what’s next for Amanda. I see her fighting at home sometime in the near future."
