By Ciaran Gibbons at ringside: The current Welsh super middleweight champion Tobias Webb from Swansea won as expected against Darren McKenna from Surrey in a return contest but it was a lot tougher contest than expected at the Oceana, Swansea on Saturday.
Webb won the first three rounds with good use of the jab and body shots whipped in with both hands. It was in round four that things started to divert from the expected script.
In round four McKenna pushed Webb back using mainly straight shots and Webb did not seem to have an answer to it. After the round Webb’s corner read him the riot act. Webb responded by attacking from the start of the round but by the last minute he looked exhausted. Webb forced round six but looked very tired at the end of the fight with his corner screaming encouragement to let his hands go through out.
Referee Reece Carter scored the fight 58-57 for Webb.
James Lilley beat Mathew Ashmole 60-56 over 6x2 minute rounds.
Darren Morgan KO Adel Badawy in the first round.
Tom Jones beat Ibrar Riyaz 59-56 over 6x2 minute rounds.
