Yamaneka Retains WBC Crown In Tokyo

Shinsuke Yamanaka retained his WBC bantamweight title against Malcolm Tunacao of the Philippines via 12th round tko in Tokyo, Japan on Monday.

Yamanaka, from Tokyo, floored the challenger twice in the third round with straight left hands. It was the same straight left hand punch that knocked the blood covered Tunacao to the deck after 1.57 of the 12th , leaving the referee no choice but to stop the fight.

"I was ready to knock him out, but my opponent was also fighting pretty well. I went for it in the end. I got married and I have a child now, that made me stronger," said Yamanaka speaking to ABS-CBN news after the fight.

"A title unification match is always one of my targets, so I welcome any title matches against champions of the WBA, IBF or WBO. I’m not sure it was a nice fight today, but I’m determined to show an exciting fight next."
