Ponce De Leon outpoints Hernandez

Daniel Ponce De Leon, the former Super Bantamweight and Featherweight world champion returned to action following a knockout loss at the hands of Abner Mares. De Leon improved his record to 45-5, 35 KOs with shutout 10 round win over Joksan “El Torito” Hernandez whose record falls to 23-6-1, 15 KO’s with the loss.

The fight took place at the Oasis Arena, Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico and De Leon was too accurate and too strong Hernandez in dominating the fight, even scoring a knockdown in the fourth when his opponents hand momentarily touched the canvas. The scores were 100-89 on all 3 judges cards.

On the undercard, Roberto “Tito” Manzanarez was in scintillating form while avenging his only career loss by taking out former conqueror Alejandro “Zorrito” Barrera in 3. Lightweight Manzanarez scored knockdowns in all 3 rounds and used his height and reach advantages to great effect. Manzanarez moves to 25-1, 21 KOs with the victory and Barrera drops to 22-16, 15 KOs.
