McArthur Challenges for Scottish Title
McArthur Challenges for Scottish Title

St Andrew’s Sports Club presents Burns Night at the Radison Blu in Glasgow on Monday 23rd January.

The main event features Stuart Green of Glenrothes, defending his Scottish light-welterweight title against Clydebank’s Gary McArthur in a ten round contest.

Paul McElhinney and former British light welterweight champion, Barry Morrison, are also scheduled to appear on what Tommy Gilmour predicts will be an excellent night of boxing. Morrison is staying busy in preparation for Sky Sport’s Prizefighter – The Light Welterweights on February 11th.

The boxing will be preceded by a five course meal and the guest speaker will be Adam Smith, head of boxing for Sky Sports, who he will be accompanied by three former world champions in Jim Watt, Johnny Nelson and Glenn McCrory.

The St Andrew’s Sporting Club has been recognised as the Home of Scottish boxing since its first show on January 29, 1973. On that evening Ken Buchanan beat Jim Watt by decision to win the British lightweight title.
