By Craig Phillips: Alex Arthur’s shot at WBO Super Featherweight champion Joan Guzman will take place in the UK later this year, after promoter Frank Warren won the purse bids for the fight.
The news will come as a big boost to Arthur who already holds the interim title and although no date or venue has yet been confirmed Arthur would love to bring the fight to his native Scotland.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Warren said: “"This year is looking to be one of the best ever for British boxing in terms of big fights. With Maccarinelli v Haye and Calzaghe v Hopkins in the coming months and now Arthur v Guzman, it is a boxing fan’s dream.”
Warren went on to add: "I have done the job of getting Alex the fight on home turf, now it is down to him to do the business in the ring - which I’m sure he will do. It’s a big assignment but Alex is a class operator and will be thoroughly prepared on the night."
