James DeGale and George Groves both scaled within the super-middleweight limit earlier this afternoon ahead of their British and Commonwealth title battle at the 02 Arena in London on Saturday evening.
British champion DeGale weighed in at 11st 13lbs 6oz while Commonwealth titleholder Groves tipped the scales at 11st 13lbs 13oz. The domestic grudge match of the year drew a lively crowd at the weigh in, where both boxers family’s traded verbal insults.
In the joint top of the bill Welshman Nathan Cleverly, who makes the first defence of his WBO light-heavyweight crown, tipped the scale at 12st 6lbs 10oz while third choice opponent Aleksy Kuziemski from Poland weighed in at 12st 6lbs 12oz.
