Commonwealth super-featherweight champion Ricky Burns has been forced to withdraw from fighting on the undercard of Amir Khan’s world title defence in Newcastle on December 5 on the orders of the WBO.
The 26 year-old was scheduled to fight in an eight rounder but the World Boxing Organization have advised him against it fearing an injury could jeopardize his super-featherweight title fight against champion Roman Martinez in early 2010.
Khan makes the first defence of his WBA junior-welterweight title against New York based Dmitriy Salita.
