Scottish boxer Ricky Burns has confirmed that he has relinquished his WBO super-featherweight title in order to move up to lightweight.
At 5ft 10 it was becoming increasingly more difficult to make 130lbs and after discussing things with his manager Alex Morrison and promoter Frank Warren it was decided he will move up to lightweight and face Australian tough guy Michael Katsidis in Glasgow on November 12th
Burns vs Katsidis will reportedly be for the vacant WBO lightweight crown. The fight makes perfect sense as the winner could face Londoner Kevin Mitchell, who is also promoted by Frank Warren and ranked very highly by the WBO.
