Charity Boxing Event Set For October 8

On Friday October 8th at the Prince Regent Hotel, Chigwell, Essex, former world boxing champion Colin McMillan presents ‘The J K Challenge’-an annual boxing dinner and charity auction night, which is this year supported by Fight Fit- one of the country’s leading fitness organizations.

The event, which is in it’s seventh year has previously been held at the prestigious Grange City Hotel in London and West Ham United FC – has raised funds for Barnado’s, the Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA), Parents against Autism(PACT), injured fighter Michael Watson, and the ACLT (African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust.

This year, besides Barking ABC, the main beneficiary will be children’s charity the Dream Factory, and a host of boxing celebrities and champions have pledged their support.

The night consists of live amateur boxing, a three course meal and the charity auction, which includes memorabilia from Sugar Ray Leonard, Tottenham Hotspur FC , Amir Khan, Tim Witherspoon and WHU football club.

Former WBO featherweight champ Colin, who has recently become a patron, says ‘The Dream Factory try’s to grant the wishes of terminally ill children, and I am happy to be associated with this worthwhile cause’.

Last year the event was attended by a host of boxing celebrities, including Audley Harrison, who challenges for the WBA Heavyweight title in mid November.

Tickets are priced at £80 ringside or £60 outer ringside.
