On Friday October 7th at the Prince Regent Hotel, Chigwell, Essex, former WBO featherweight champion Colin McMillan presents ‘The J.K Challenge’-an annual boxing dinner and charity auction night.
The event, which is in it’s eighth year, has previously been held at the prestigious Grange City Hotel in London and West Ham United FC – has raised funds for Barnado’s, the Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA), Parents against Autism(PACT), injured fighter Michael Watson, and the ACLT (African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust .
This year beside Barking ABC, the main beneficiary will be Stepping Up Uk – a charity which aids youngsters who have just come out from care.
Already, a host of boxing celebrities and champions, including two time World Heavyweight Champion Tim Witherspoon have pledged their support. The night consists of live amateur boxing, a three course meal and the charity auction, which includes memorabilia from the late Henry Cooper, and Roberto Duran.
Speaking about the charity McMillan said: ‘Steping Up Uk’is is a new charity which aims to support those young people who have a had a very difficult upbringing, and will hopefully assist them as they make the transition into society.’
Tickets for the event are priced at £80 ringside or £60 outer ringside.
