The rumours circulating at the moment appear to be that Matthew Hatton could be an option for WBA light-welterweight king Amir Khan in 2012.
The plan seems to be for Hatton to claim the WBA interim welterweight crown from Frenchman Ismael El Massoudi then face Khan in the UK in early 2011.
“If Matthew wins this next fight he will hold a world title." said Hatton’s trainer Bob Shannon.
“If Amir Khan wants to step up to welterweight, he will want a title fight. It would be a great fight for Matthew. He would be the underdog, but he’s improving all the time and everybody saw how well he performed against Alvarez.
Shannon added: “But we’ve got to get this fight out of the way first. This is the biggest fight of Matthew’s career
Of course, Hatton Vs Khan is very much a rumour but a domestic clash against Hatton up at welterweight makes sense before looking to step up against Floyd Mayweather Jr.
