Lewis Advice For Haye

Former undisputed world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis has warned David Haye that he will have to be at his elusive best if he is to defeat Wladimir Kitschko in Hamburg, Germany on Saturday night. In a little over six days time Haye puts his WBA heavyweight title on the line against IBF/WBO and IBO king Klitschko and Lewis believes if Haye can be elusive and connect with one of his ‘Haymaker’s’ then he can defeat the world No.1.

Talking about the upcoming heavyweight clash of the year Lewis commented: ‘Klitschko is the best right now, he is the man everyone is aiming to get at. It’s really tough to be champion and it’s even tougher to stay there.

‘His(Wladimir) strength is his size, his reach and his weight. He is a true heavyweight and weighs about 20lb more than David. He has all those advantages as he’s a natural heavyweight.

‘His weakness is his chin, his speed and maybe his stamina. And they are things that David Haye can expose.

‘Haye is light but he can use it to his advantage if he can stay away from him. But if they get into a clinch and Klitschko puts his weight on David it may sap some of Haye’s energy.

Lewis also added that Haye can take extra confidence from the way in which he fought and beat 7ft Nicolay Valuev : ‘What makes me give Haye a chance is what he did against Valuev,” said Lewis. “He fought a perfect fight, kept moving, stayed elusive and almost knocked Valuev out in the last round.

‘He has the speed and the weight in his arms and any shot he hits Klitschko with will be a shocking blow. If David is able to stay with his gameplan and move and throw combinations he should do very well.’

Meanwhile Haye jetted into Hamburg earlier today in a private jet to kick off all the fight week hype.
