Enzo Maccarinelli took just 45 seconds to resurrect his career and claim the vacant European cruiserweight title against Alexander Kotlobay at the Yubileiny Sports Palace in St Petersburg, Russia on Tuesday night.
The 29 year-old’s career looked to be all but over in March 2008 when David Haye bombed him out inside two rounds and subsequent stoppage defeats to Ola Afolabi and Denis Lebedev but the European title win over the Russian favourite now means the former WBO champ can once again be considered for a world title shot.
Maccarinelli decked Kotlobay with the first big exchange of the of the fight before landing a thunderous left uppercut, forcing the referee to intervene and wave off the fight.
