Scottish super-middleweight prospect Craig McEwan made it 16 straight wins as a professional Saturday night when he scored a hard fought eight round split decision win over Darnell Boone at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The 27 year-old Edinburgh born southpaw was judged the winner on two of the official’s scorecards 77-75, 77-75, while the third judge made Atlanta, Georgia based Boone the winner by a score of 79-73.
McEwan,16-0-(9), was boxing on the undercard of the Victor Ortiz vs Marco Maidana world title fight promoted by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions.
