Irish and Oklahoma junior-welterweight boxing champion, Oisin Fagan has announced retirement.
Fagan decided to hang up his professional boxing gloves this week, to start in a position, where he will be employed by the Irish Amateur Boxing Association (IABA) and the Dublin City Council (DCC) partnership, as a Boxing Development Officer in the Community.
Speaking about his decision to retire and his new post the former school teacher said: “Boxing has been very good to me and I wanted to give a little back, so through my experiences within boxing-circles and the familiarity I have teaching children, this job is absolutely perfect.
"Most boxing fans who have followed my career, know that I was an elementary schoolteacher in the USA. I must say that I really miss my kids a lot, having left the teaching profession about 18 months ago, when I returned home to Dublin; however, now that I’ve landed this job, I’ll once again be allowed work with kids and I hope that I can prove to be a positive role-model for them.”
