Irish based Cuban Mike Perez was crown International prizefighter heavyweight champion at the Alexandra Palace in London on Saturday night.
The 25 year-old produced some impressive power punching to out-point Kertson Manswell(down in the 1st round) over three rounds in the opening bout 30-25 on all three judges cards before stopping Frenchman Gregory Tony in the semi final and American Tye Fields, both in the opening rounds to land the £32,000 prize.
Perez took just 42 seconds to stop Fields in the final, a combination of punches forced the referee to stop the bout. In the semi final Tony managed to last 52 seconds before the bout was called off.
Speaking to Sky Sports after his history making win Perez said: "I got better (as the night went on). I will send the money to my mum in Cuba and then take my fiancée and young daughter out for dinner.
"Hopefully after this big win I will get a world title fight against Wladimir Klitschko or David Haye, whoever.”
