The culmination of years of hard work have paid off for Scottish super-featherweight Ricky Burns. On Saturday night at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow, the 27 year-old challenges Roman Martinez for the WBO title and insists he is fully prepared for the biggest fight of his life.
Speaking at a media workout, Coatbridge based Burns said: "I’ve worked all my life for an opportunity like this.
"All the hours in the gym since I was a wee boy come down to 12 rounds against Martinez.
"I’ve had big fights before, but for one reason or another I was not quite ready.
"But this is my chance to shine, my chance in the spotlight.
"I’ve had a great training camp and I am fully prepared for everything that Martinez has got.
"I’m fighting at home on a massive stage, and I’ve never wanted anything as much as I want this world title.
"This is my moment and I plan to take it."
