According to WBA light-welterweight champ Amir Khan there seems to be some tension between Manny Pacquiao’s camp and his own.
Pound for pound king Pacquiao and British based Khan are both trained by Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles but Khan told his local newspaper The Bolton News that all may not be well in the gym where he is preparing to defend his title against Lamont Peterson on December 10.
"It’s strange. There’s tension in the camp," Khan said. "My team is cool, and I’m just concentrating on (Lamont) Peterson, but his team seem to be worried." Khan also revealed that Team Pacquiao has barred him from sparring with the Filipino boxing champion. "It’s like they’re keeping us apart," added Khan. "We’re good friends, and I’d never want to put Freddie and Alex (Ariza, their strength and conditioning coach) in that position.
