Scottish boxing prospect Gary Young makes his long awaited return to the ring on July 16 when he faces American Tony Hirsch in San Jose, California.
Edinburgh born Young, who has not fought since out-pointing David Kirk nearly two years ago, is now based at the famous Wildcard Gym in Los Angeles and will be having his first fight under the guidance of SecondsOut Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach.
The 26 year-old has been sidelined by a hand injury for the best part of two years but cannot wait to get back in the ring and make up for lost time. Speaking to SecondsOut via email earlier today Young said: “It looks like the bout is over four rounds but I’m hoping we can make it a six rounder. Either way I can’t wait to fight again. “
American Hirsch is the naturally bigger man and boasts a record of 8 wins 2 defeats and 1 draw, four via stoppage. July 3, 2009
