New IBF super-middleweight champion Carl Froch has target a high profile rematch with Mikkel Kessler after impressively destroying the previously undefeated Lucian Bute on Saturday night.
Froch, who stopped Bute inside five rounds in front of his hometown fans in Nottingham, dropped a close decision to Danish hero Kessler in Denmark in 2010 and said if a rematch with Bute is not forthcoming then he will target a rematch with Kessler in Nottigham.
Speaking to Sky Sports Radio Froch said: "Well Lucian Bute has got a rematch clause, whether or not he’s going to want to execute that, I don’t know.
"I don’t know if he can because of being stopped for the title so we’ll probably defend it against whoever’s next in line, there’ll be a mandatory at some stage.
"If not, the fight I really want is Mikkel Kessler to be honest.
"He’s got a close points win on his record over me and he agreed that he would fight me at home because I fought him in his yard in a very close decision.
"So he owes me one back here so I’m going to have a word with Eddie (Hearn) when the dust has settled and see if we can get him over here, maybe at Nottingham Forest City Ground and just make that a fantastic occasion.
"That is something I would look forward to and that is definitely in my radar."
