By Derek Gionta, from Las Vegas:

The co-feature bout of the anticipated Mayweather-Maidana II main event dubbed "Mayhem" saw Leo Santa Cruz (28-0-1, 16 KOs), of Rosemead, CA defend his WBC Super Bantamweight title against Tijuana, Mexico’s Manuel Roman (17-3-3, 6 KOs), scoring an easy second round knockout.

The two former sparring partners met in the ring for the first time, which most expected to be a one-sided fight.

Well, the people were right as the showcase for Santa Cruz went exactly as expected as the Californian dropped Roman once and down for the count at the 55 second mark of the second stanza with a right hand over a lazy jab of Roman.

Santa Cruz commented, "I just came to do my job. I will fight Rigondeaux. I’m not scared of nobody."

Santa Cruz wants the big fights. Hopefully he and the fans can enjoy more competitive match-ups as he continues his undefeated career.
