Alvarez Protests His Innocence Regarding Assault

WBC light-middleweight champion Saul Alvarez insists he is innocent of any claims that he assaulted IBF light-flyweight champion Ulysses ‘Archie’ Solis.

Solis accused Alvarez of beating him up and fracturing his jaw. He reportedly claims that Alvarez allegedly hit him with a straight right hand and left hook during a fracas at the Barranca de Oblates in Jalisco, Guadalajara, Mexico. Both men were training there and ‘Canelo’ is said to have allegedly accused Solis of getting too close to his girlfriend. It has also been reported that Solis will undergo surgery later today and plans to press charges.

But a press conference earlier today referring to the alleged attack Alvarez said : The reason I’m here at this press conference is because I don’t have anything to hide. I’m a young man that does not get involved in any scandals or trouble of any sort. I repeat, if I had something to hide I would not be here right now at this press conference. Thats all I have to say.

WBC president José Sulaimán was also present at the press conference had the following to say regarding the matter : We always stand behind the boxers. In this case the boxer happens to be one of our world champions in Saul Alvarez. We believe he speaks the truth. We at the WBC will pay the expenses on the damages that Ulises ‘Archie’ Solís has received not knowing who caused these damages but the WBC stands behind Saul Alvarez and declares him innocent.
