WBO super featherweight champion Jorge Arce (58-6-2, 45 KOs) ko’d Simphiwi Nongqayi (16-2-1, 6 KOs) in the fourth round of a grudge rematch at the Foro Promo Casa in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico on Saturday night.
Nongqayi had previously out-pointed Arce and his younger brother Francisco over 12 rounds but tonight Jorge fought with far more urgency and started the fight at a fast pace and did not allow Nongqayi to settle down. Arce was cut over the right eye but he got the job done after 2:01 of the fourth.
On the same card WBA #1 super bantamweight king Victor Terrazas scored a fourth round tko win over Eduardo Becerril. Terrazas floored Becerril in round three and the bout was stopped after 2:12 of the fourth round.
In a lightweight contest Mahonri Montes (23-0-1, 18 KOs) scored an eighth round stoppage win over Carlos Winston Velasquez (18-13-1, 10 KOs). The time was 2:42.
Flyweight Richie Mepranum (24-2-1, 5 KOs) out-pointed Valentín León (21-26-3, 10 KOs) over six rounds by scores of 60-53 twice and 59-54.
In a super featherweight bout Miguel “Barreterito” Beltrán (26-1-0, 17 KOs) out-scored Sergio “Sirenito” Pérez (24-13, 16 KOs) over eight-rounds by scores of 77-74, twice and 78-72. At welterweight the bout between Francisco Rios and Abaham Álvarez Osuna ended in a four round draw.
