AVALOS HAS EASY TIME WITH NIEVES
In a dominating performance Chris Avalos put Jose Nieves three times and stopped him in the 4th round, in remaining unbeaten. Avalos was too powerful for Nieves in raising his record to 15-0, (12ko’s).

MARQUEZ DOMINATES CAMPOS
After a slow first round in which he seemed to try to study his opponent, Marquez settled down and dominated the smaller but tough Campos.
Many had felt Marquez was taking a big step up in Campos 20-8, Marquez first 9 opponents had a combined 48-46-3, but if one is to improve each time out Campos was a good test for Marquez, Marquez although not flashy but consistent, he passed his first test against a rugged opponent, but showed lack of power in his combinations, a flaw Sergio Chavez will work on in the gym.
Round two had Campos trying to crouch down a weave in but Marquez would keep him honest by popping the jab to the on rushing Campos, stopping Campos in his tracks. Campos looked a little flustered in not able to get closer to Marquez.
Much of the same in round three and four, with Marquez controlling the action with his jab, but now Marquez was catching Campos coming in with left and right uppercuts. Campos was able to have a little success in early in round four but that it was short lived.
Campos was game in the latter rounds as Marquez put rounds in the bank and Campos looking more and more to need a knockout but lacked the firepower to hurt Marquez.
In the 7th round Campos would once again try to get closer to Marquez but in the final minute of the round Marquez made Campos pay catching him coming in with a hard right hand that sent Campos down, although not hurt Campos was able to get up and fight back, but it was the finishing touches in Marquez victory.
The final round saw Campos try to go all out at Marquez but Marquez fought smart and kept Campos from getting closer using his boxing skills.
The only drama that would come would be how the judges scored it, all three agreed with Marquez winning but the scores were differ as on had it a shutout at 80-71, another 79-72 and a much closer 77-74.
For Marquez it was a return home after his pro debut, but he was happy to win in front of his hometown crowd.
"It was time to come back, we had fun on the road but home is always fun. I hope we can do it more in the future."
Under card Action
Heavyweights opened the fight card with Journey man contender Maurice Harris winning a uninspiring 6 round decision over Bill Zimbrum. Harris used his jab to keep the shorter Zimbrum away but showed little enthusiasm to want to halt his overmatched opponent. Harris raises his record to 21-14-2 with scores of 60-54 twice and 58-56 over Zimbrum 23-11-1.
In one of the best fight of the night Arturo Crspin avenged an earlier loss to Carlos Sanchez as Crespin edge Sanchez in an all out slugfest. The two went most of the fight going toe to toe, with Crispin being the stronger of the two during the later part of the four round majority win for Crespin. Crespin raises his record to 4-1, while Sanchez falls for the first time at 4-1.
In possibly the worst decision of the night Amanda Crespin seemed to have the edge over Nohime Dennison but it was Dennison who came away with the decision, most at ringside were stunned when Dennison was awarded the win. Crespin was looking to get revenge from when Dennison defeated her in both fighters pro debut last year, but the judges didn’t see it that way by scores of 39-37 on all three cards.
David Proa 7-1 (7ko’s) showed more heart then his previous fight, which many questioned when he quit on his stool after he could knock out his opponent. This time Proa came off the canvas in the second round from a vicious right hand from Adam Ochoa 2-1, kept the pressure on dropped Ochoa and made his opponent quit in the 4th round.
Max Heyman won a boring decision over Roy Ashwood in a 6 round Light Heavyweight bout.
Vincent Mirabal (5-0, 1 KO) edged a split decision win over Michael Coca-Gallegos (0-3). Scores were 39-37 twice and 37-39.
